Are you struggling with thyroid and gallbladder problems? Think they are not related? Or how about this: your doctor tells you your thyroid is fine but you have all of the symptoms still? Well it turns out you might have been onto something even if your doctor didn’t catch it.

Since starting my Keto Lifestyle journey I have learned so much about nutrition that I never really knew. For one thing not all calories are the same. And your body will make do with what ever you provide it to run on. This issue comes up when with the whole thyroid and gallbladder problems.

Apparently the bile in your gallbladder is important in the transformation of T3 to T4 production

The thyroid hormone cycle.

TRH increases the secretion of TSH, which stimulates the synthesis and secretion of T3 and T4 by the thyroid gland. T3 and T4 inhibit the secretion of TSH, both directly and indirectly by suppressing the release of TRH. T4 is converted to T3 in the liver and many other tissues by the action of T4 monodeiodinases. Some T4 and T3 is conjugated with glucuronide and sulfate in the liver, excreted in the bile, and partially hydrolyzed in the intestine. Some T4 and T3 formed in the intestine may be reabsorbed. Drug interactions may occur at any of these sites.
TRH: thyrotropin-releasing hormone; TSH: thyroid-stimulating hormone; T4: thyroxine; T3: triiodothyronine.
Are thyroid problems and gallbladder issues really connected? Discover how you can resolve both problems.
Your gallbladder concentrates the bile storing it for fat consumption. Part of the problem with getting your doctor to acknowledge that you have a thyroid problem is that your body will do a work around when you aren’t producing bile correctly. It throws their tests off! If you don’t have a gallbladder don’t fear, your liver continues to drip bile into your small intestine. Now that I no longer have a gallbladder I was terrified that eating fat would mess me up big time. But that hasn’t been the case at all!

My Keto Lifestyle to Help With My Thyroid and Gallbladder Problems

Eating too many carbohydrates has been the main culprit in screwing up both my thyroid and gallbladder! Buying into the whole low fat lots of carbs mantra was making the problem worse. Honestly it wasn’t until I started to think I was getting diabetes, too, that I decided to get all of these things under control. Everything is related.

About a month ago I went cold turkey and started a Low Carb High Fat diet. I say diet loosely because it is going to have to be my lifestyle now if I hope to keep my glucose under control. It isn’t bad. Lots of great foods to choose from. Once you break the sugar addiction life is good. In the last month I have lost ten pounds and an inch and a half around my waist.

My fasting blood glucose levels are down under 100. I found a secret accidentally about getting your fasting blood glucose levels to stay low in the morning. Drink vinegar at night. Either apple cider vinegar or lemon juice in Peligrigio water. I like drinking lemon juice and carbonated water at night, but got sick and didn’t have any one night. My fasting glucose went way up to 120! The next night I drank a couple glasses of the water/lemon juice and voila back down at 88.

I keep my carbs low. My targets are 60% fat 20% protein and 20% carbs. But those carbs are only leafy green veggies and a few other vegetables. Also important are mineral and vitamins. As well as bile salts to boost the absorption of fat soluble vitamins.
